Pohela Boishakh (also referred to as Nobo Borso) is the first day of the Bengali calendar, on the first day of the first month Baisakh. It is celebrated on April 14th in Bangladesh and April 15th in India in the western state of West Bengal. The festival involves processions, fairs, and family time. The greeting for this holiday is “Shubho Noboborsho” or “Happy New Year.”
